Engaging Citizens and Communities for Sustainable Urban Futures

Engaging Citizens and Communities for Sustainable Urban Futures

Amplifying the voices of citizens, youth, and local stakeholders ensures a collaborative and inclusive approach to climate action. Participatory processes, public engagement campaigns, and co-creation opportunities make communities active partners in shaping a sustainable urban future. This work empowers people to take part in building thriving cities in harmony with nature.

1. Facilitating public engagement campaigns and participatory processes to involve citizens in contributing to the discussion around climate policies.

2. Empowering youth and community representatives through events, meetings, and co-creation opportunities.

3. Collecting citizen improvement suggestions to guide urban climate initiatives.

4. Producing policy recommendations in collaboration with local stakeholders to enhance inclusivity and impact.

5. Engaging communities through tailored events and campaigns to foster ownership and advocacy for climate action.

Where we are in the process

In 2024, we adapted our global We Love Cities campaign into We Love Solutions - to engage citizens and youth across Europe. We also ran workshops with youth and youth organisations in Hungary, Portugal & Romania. This work helped encourage participation in climate policies, fostering collaboration, and collecting feedback to shape sustainable urban futures.
