Mining companies are looking to put profit over the common heritage of all humankind. Scientists are projecting far-reaching negative impacts that will deepen our climate change and biodiversity crisis and threaten coastal communities that depend on a healthy ocean.
We must think deeply… and change course now!
Our ocean provides valuable services that benefit people everywhere. Scientists and economists say deep seabed mining could jeopardize these services, and project far-reaching negative consequences for our economies.
The member states of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) have the chance to halt deep seabed mining at the ISA Council in July 2024 – or give way to companies preparing to mine our deep sea and create irreversible damage to our ocean.

We can’t let a handful of people decide the fate of deep sea species, their habitats and crucial ecosystems.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
A transition to 100% renewable energy can and must occur without deep sea minerals. Multiple brands and manufacturers have already agreed not to use minerals mined from the deep sea.
OCEAN COMMUNITIES
Communities that depend on the ocean for their food, livelihoods and cultural heritage have said no to deep seabed mining. They don’t need it and don’t want it.
