First round of NDCs

2021 NDCs
Countries submitted their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to the United Nations in 2021, and WWF proceeded to benchmark them according to our #NDCsWeWant Checklist.

WWF engages nationally in over 100 countries, and across a number of technical areas, to support governments enhancing their national climate plans. This provides our team with the ability to draw out the implications on regional, and global scales, contributing to key discussions such as the Global Stocktake.

WWF approaches NDCs as important opportunities for governments to further their commitments to climate in line with improving lives, pursuing sustainable development and a healthy environment for all. You can read many of our resources in our 'related resources' section.

WWF's first edition of the NDCsWeWant Checklist, was used to assess selected national climate plans submitted before the end of 2021. Read the first edition NDCsWeWant Checklist here.

Be sure to explore our latest work too on NDCs 3.0 and our latest checklist here.

Simply click on the country submission you are interested in below and find more information on any gaps, advances and how aligned to 1.5C the plan is.

How do we conduct the assessments? WWF's experts rate a country's NDC based on the criteria which can be found in our checklist here. The WWF NDCsWeWant Checklist provides what WWF considers ‘good practice’ for developing these national climate plans.
