Career Snapshot 
 
Ahmad Alhendawi currently serves as the Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe at Save the Children International, where he leads a vast region with over 2,700 staff dedicated to supporting children and their communities. He brings 20 years of experience in humanitarian and development roles, driven by a deep passion for advancing child and youth empowerment. 

Prior to this role, he was the Secretary General (CEO) of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) for seven years, leading the world's largest educational youth movement. He previously served as the first-ever UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, where he led the establishment of the UN Youth Office. His earlier career includes roles as a Policy Advisor at the League of Arab States and contributions to the UN Population Fund's (UNFPA) Regional Population and Development program. 

Ahmad is also a trustee on the boards of the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF International), the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizenship, and the Crown Prince Foundation in Jordan. 

 
Formal Education 
 
Ahmad holds a master’s degree in Advanced European and International Relations, a degree in Information Technology, and has completed advanced courses at Harvard Business School. He is a recipient of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan's Order for Distinction. A Jordanian national, he has studied and worked in Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Germany, Turkey, France, the United States, and Malaysia.
